Raiford “Ray” G. Dyer, Jr., CPA, MTA

is a Founding Principal of Covenant Consulting Group LLC. Dyer, a native of Tuscaloosa, has been working in the public accounting industry for 27 years. In that time, he has focused his efforts primarily in tax consulting, business transactional planning, strategic estate/trust planning and planning for closely held and family owned businesses. His clients span a variety of industries including transportation, real estate construction and development, real estate syndication, oil and gas syndication, manufacturing, healthcare, finance, and retail, among others.

Dyer received both a Master of Tax Accounting and Bachelor of Science accounting degrees from the Culverhouse School of Accountancy at the University of Alabama. Dyer subsequently worked for two of the Big Eight (now Big Four) accounting firms in Dallas, Texas. During his time in Dallas, Dyer was also a Vice-President and Treasurer for a real estate syndication group. In 2006, he was invited to be an adjunct professor at the University of Alabama.

Dyer has contributed to two books: The Real Estate Accounting and Reporting Manual, 2nd Edition and The Real Estate Accounting and Reporting Manual, 1989 Cumulative Supplement published by Warren Gorham and Lamont. Dyer is a frequent speaker on Advanced LLC Issues, and, has spoken on other issues such as FIN 48 and Tax Aspects of Selecting the Best Entity among others.

Dyer was the President of the 57th Annual Federal Tax Clinic, one of the longest running clinics of its type in the US. He is currently a member of the Tuscaloosa Estate Planning Council, and a former member of the Board of Directors of the West Alabama Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, Dyer has been involved with various finance councils of the Catholic Diocese of Birmingham and the Holy Spirit Parish in Tuscaloosa.
